It is my honor to invite you to ECTAS 2010, the 6th Annual Meeting of the Egyptian Cardiothoracic Anesthesia Society (ECTAS) that will be held in the great city of Cairo from Wednesday 10th until Friday 12th February 2010. The conference will be held at Pyramisa Cairo Hotel which is located in the center of the Egyptian Capital. ECTAS 2010 is a multidisciplinary conference designed to foster exchange and interaction between cardiac, chest, and vascular anesthesiologists, clinical perfusionists, surgeons and other clinical specialists related to the perioperative management of adult cardiac and vascular surgical patients. Leading experts will provide state-of-the art overviews and lead interactive discussions through scientific sessions and workshops of interest to anesthesiologists, surgeons and perfusionists. The meeting is held in a structured but informal setting designed to maximize participation and facilitate discussion yet leave ample time to experience a wide variety of entertainment and attractions like the nearby Egyptian Museum and the charming Nile River.
The Conference’s scientific programme will comprise lectures, targeted sessions, interactive discussions, as well as workshops that will address the latest methods of cardiopulmonary bypass, latest controversies in cardiac and vascular surgery, new methods and techniques in intraoperative monitoring and perioperative strategies for organ protection involved in cardiac and vascular surgery, and intraoperative transesophgeal echocardiography (TEE). Because one of ECTAS’s main goals is to promote scientific research, researchers are encouraged to submit their abstracts to be included in the programme. The scientific committee will select presentations for oral and poster presentations. The deadline of submission of abstracts for presentation at the meeting is the 31st of December 2009.
Besides the scientific programme, the social programme will give you the opportunity to experience the essence of Cairo, the city that never sleeps, through its history, culture, and the warmth of its people.
Looking forward to seeing you in Cairo as a participant or an attendee.

Prof. Fawzia Aboul Fetouh, MD
